A high school teacher has been accused of grooming a teenage girl and offering money for her to produce sexually explicit material.
Police allege the 29-year-old man targeted a 14-year-old girl not known to him, before she told her parents who alerted authorities.
The teacher was arrested in Beecroft, in Sydney’s north, at 5.45am on Thursday.
NSW police were not aware of the teacher targeting any other children online.
“We will certainly be taking steps to thoroughly investigate the matter, to ascertain if there are any other children who have been victims of this particular predator,” Det Acting Supt Karl Leis said.
The man taught at a secondary school for boys, which police declined to name.
He is accused of first making contact with the girl on 18 March, and at one stage offering her money for sexually explicit material.
“The money is not a significant sum, however, I will say (he) did take steps to pressure the child during that dialogue, trying to encourage her to send him sexually explicit material in exchange for money,” Leis said.

The man was charged using a carriage service to groom a child aged under 16 years for sex, and using a carriage service to access child abuse material.
