SEOUL, April 7 (Yonhap) -- LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo met with the leaders of Silicon Valley-based artificial intelligence (AI) companies last week as his business group aims to accelerate its AI transformation drive, the conglomerate said Tuesday.
During his trip to California, Koo met with Alex Karp, chief executive officer (CEO) of U.S. software platform firm Palantir Technologies Inc., on Thursday (local time) to discuss potential cooperation in the AI industry, LG Corp., the holding company of LG Group, said in a release.
Koo and Karp discussed ways to enhance LG Group's AI capacity by benchmarking Palantir's achievements across global industries, including manufacturing, finance and logistics, LG added.

Koo held a separate meeting with co-founders of Skild AI, Deepak Pathak and Abhinav Gupta, discussing the potential of the physical AI industry while observing a demonstration of a humanoid equipped with the Silicon Valley-based company's program.
"The meetings reflect LG's commitment to delivering results promptly by clarifying its AI strategy and priorities in the physical AI business," LG said.
The LG chief also visited the headquarters of LG Technology Ventures, the group's investment arm based in Silicon Valley, to discuss future investment strategies.
"I ask (LG Technology Ventures) to play a role as a forward base that can establish a major pillar of the group's future portfolio through proactive investment amid the AI paradigm shift," Koo was quoted as saying.
LG Technology Ventures currently operates funds worth US$890 million, investing in various countries, including the United States, Canada and Israel.
