Islanders are invited to send in video messages about Sark's future
A new community-driven conversation aimed at shaping the long-term future of Sark has officially begun.
Future Sark was launched with a presentation at Island Hall, which was attended by the lieutenant governor of Guernsey and an estimated 100 islanders.
Steve Skelton, from Question Factory, which is running Future Sark, said it was "designed to be driven by citizens" to share their views on what mattered most for them and their home.
He said most people were concerned about issues including protecting the natural environment, and having a prosperous economy and strong community, and "we get the chance to really understand what that might mean for Sark".
He said
Future Sark
would be talking to people from different parts of the island's economy and hearing about the issues currently concerning people.
People would be able to share their views at events starting from late April, with workshops in June, organisers said.
A survey is due be launched in the summer before a report goes to Chief Pleas in September for it to adopt as a long-term "map for the future".
Islanders would also be invited to send in videos and messages of what they liked about the island and what they would like to see improved, organisers said.
Skelton urged people to ask prospective candidates in the upcoming elections, due around December, how they would use the plan.
He said: "It's very much something designed to strengthen the islanders' role in their own democracy."
